1)There's a rumour you guys recorded your album in a cave. Can you expand on that a bit....how did it add to the vibe of your music, etc?

In the cave, what lurks between the folds of audible can become real.

2)There seems to be a Krautrock influence in amongst the more Metallic vibes...was that a deliberate thing, or was it just an accidental side-effect of the hypnotic-sounding rhythms that you use....? How would you guys describe your music?

Aluk Todolo is Occult Rock. And saying that our music is a mix of krautrock and black-metal is only a way to describe it, not a concept. Our style was not a matter of deliberation between us nor an accident. We knew that we did not wanted to play Samba or any other genre, but mainly to follow our own way. We discovered the rules of our music while playing it, and if these rules are unbreakable, they are not musically restrictive.

3)I'm interested in the ritualistic/occult side of your music. Could you explain the sort of mood or amotional atmosphere you try to create in your music...and what are the aims of creating of this mood? Do you think your music has practical/physical applications beyond the usual acts of listening or dancing....is it intended to mentally/psychikly strengthen , improve or protect the listener in some way...?

Ritual is Invocation. Sound engenders trance & trance engenders sound. in my opinion we are more interprets than creators: I see Art as a mediumnic/possession processus in which the ego-anihilation phase is essential. It is like walking on a rope, for we are also the preys of the forces we conjure. They are forming a kind of harmonic chaos, and the moving picture they create is our score. These are the reversed-minks of the Obscure. There is no escape, as the doors we open are not exits. Austerity is the key, and our mysticism, yet ecstatic, doesn't lead to any kind of enlightenment, mental/psychic strength or protection or anything nice, but to its very opposite. This is why the album is called Descension. hopefully nobody will dance while playing our record but I wish some fuckers will commit self mutilation after listening to it.

4)Who are your Metal heroes and what have you tried to learn from them?

I don't listen to Metal.
